SASKATOON – The Regina Pat Canadians will be the host team for the 2026 Telus Cup West regional tournament in April.
An independent adjudication panel awarded the tournament to the Pat Cs after receiving bids from Regina, Estevan and Moose Jaw.
Established in 1971, the Regina Pat Canadians are the reigning Telus Cup national champions and return with an outstanding team on paper, with Maddox Schultz (#1 2025 WHL Draft pick) and Liam Pue (#3 2025 WHL Draft choice). However, Regina was awarded host team in the tournament based on the commitments in their bid.
Regina has secured $80,000 in funding support for the four-day tournament in April, including $50,000 in corporate support. The local committee has also already secured commitments for 400 tournament passes.
And based on their event budget, $76,000 is being directed to legacy projects after the tournament, including support for the development of young officials and the further development of female hockey. The legacy disbursements also include money for the Outdoor Hockey League for underprivileged youth in Regina.
The Telus Cup West is April 2-5, 2026 with the Regina Pat Canadians hosting the top team from Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northern Ontario.
