Players Of The Month

SASKATOON – The SMAAAHL Players of the Month come from three different teams in a very close vote with our 15-member Insiders Panel.

The only easy decision for the panel of league coaches, managers and broadcasters was naming Maddox Schultz as the Forward of the Month for October. He received every vote – except one – for his spectacular start to the season for the Regina Pat Canadians. The 15-year-old captain of the Pat Cs is averaging three points a game in his first nine games this year.

Voting for Goaltender of the Month was much more contested with five netminders receiving attention. Seth Gutenberg of the Warman Wildcats received the honour for his sparkling 1.86 GAA. “He is playing well against everyone and playing strong on a high offensive team,” said one opposing coach.

Jackson Dunn (Tisdale), Cade Mitchell (Swift Current), Evan Hutcheon (Estevan) and Kaleb Page (Moose Jaw) also received votes.

In the Defenceman of the Month category, Liam Myhre of the Prince Albert Mintos grabbed the most votes in a five-player race. “He’s leading the team in goals and points when they aren’t getting a lot of offence,” stated a member of the voting panel.

Eric Grandberg (Saskatoon Blazers), Kayson Anderson (Estevan), Ethan Young (Regina) and Ryker Doka (Regina) also received high marks.
