Millions of views: Lanigan’s photos capturing attention

REGINA – Britt Lanigan didn’t pick-up a camera until three years ago.

Today, her images are being viewed millions of times on Instagram as the official photographer for the Regina Pat Canadians.

As the Queen City’s U18AAA team has soared to national significance the last two seasons, Lanigan has been capturing the moments and helping build the Pat Cs brand on one of the world’s most popular social platforms for young adults.

“It gets me excited,” said Lanigan during a small break during the Telus Cup Western Regional tournament at the Co-operators Centre. “Those are exciting numbers (from Instagram).”

Lanigan joined the Pat Cs crew three seasons ago as her father (Trent Lanigan) is an assistant coach. “I kept teaching myself and the progress is day and night now,” she continued with a smile. “The kids are great, the staff (are great) and I feel part of a family.”

For Lanigan, the most rewarding aspect of the job is seeing the reaction to her pics. “When the boys get excited when I have a good photo of them… these are moments for them for a lifetime,” she continued.

She ranks Liam Pue’s overtime goal celebration in Game 2 of the league final in Moose Jaw earlier this spring as her favourite photo.

A commercial mortgage specialist during the day, Lanigan puts in long hours on game days as she also helps with the team’s social feeds. But the followers of the Pat Canadians are clearly grateful.
